Our day to day habits matter more than you might think. When you do something regularly, it counts as a habit - but it is a habit that helps you or causes you stress? You can make changes to your daily life that will truly make you feel a million times better. Creating a new habit takes a little time, but the effort will make it totally worth it.

Here are a few habits that are life changing:

✅ Make the bed every day

✅ Run the dishwasher and empty it as often as you need to

✅ Don’t go to bed with dishes in the sink

✅ Wash a load of laundry each day or on a schedule

✅ Don’t put it down, put it away

✅ Try to keep miscellaneous items off the floor

✅ Keep like items together so that you know what you have

✅ Walk the home each day and spend 10-15 minutes putting items back in their place

✅ Be mindful of what comes into the house and what goes out of the house (watch your shopping and remember to donate)

✅ Try to keep surfaces clear of clutter by putting the items in their spot

✅ Have a designated spot for returns, donations, and to do tasks

✅ If you can get it done right away, do it instead of putting it on your to do list

✅ Create a system for the items that accumulate like shoes, bags, and papers

✅ Plan your tasks the day before or one week at a time

✅ Ask your family members to help with the day to day chores in the household

✅ Declutter regularly so that the clutter doesn’t build up

✅ Have a cleaning schedule

✅ If you need the help, you don’t have to do it alone. It’s ok to outsource too!

✅ Invest in storage solutions and add labels

✅ Assess what’s not working and come up with a plan to find a better solution

The key to habits is really understanding their impact and that they actually work. When you’re mindful of how these little things will benefit your life, you are setting yourself up for greater success. You’re more likely to reach your goals if you think about them daily. The most important thing about daily habits is being kind to yourself if you get off track. If you miss a day or two, that’s ok. You can quickly catch up and get back on track!
